NEW YORK CITY, NY – The critically acclaimed new musical about local news is heading Off-Broadway! Good Morning New York: A New Musical opens at the Players Theatre January 9, 2020 – that’s exactly one year away.

The musical comedy, produced by Jacklyn Thrapp LLC in Association with Michael Sgouros, explores the behind the scenes culture of a morning news program. It’s inspired by Jacklyn Thrapp’s time working as an overnight associate producer at a New York City news station.

Journalists from the Daily News, CBS New York & Fox News gave it rave reviews after seeing the Off-Off-Broadway debut at the People’s Improv Theatre (Loft) in 2018. The musical had a series of sold-out nights and is now heading to the Players Theatre.

The book is by Emmy® Award Jacklyn Thrapp, Music and Lyrics by Thrapp and Dylan Adler, Orchestrations by Dylan Adler & it will be under the direction of Bridget Greaney. Producers will have the creative team finalized this fall.

The official Off-Broadway cast has not been announced.

Follow our progress on the weekly ‘Making A Musical’ podcast by Jacklyn Thrapp. It follows the development and execution of the musical.

Good Morning New York: A New Musical opens on the Players Theatre Main Stage (115 Macdougal St, New York, NY 10012) starting January 9, 2020. Tickets range from $42 - $62. Ticket information can be found at GoodMorningNewYorkMusical.com
